Description

This listing is for a PDF SEWING PATTERN, not an actual breast form.

As an alternative to traditional breast prostheses, you can create your own with the Val Breast Form.ย Use Val to create soft, lightweight, breathable breast forms in beautiful fabrics.ย Val can be customized with cut-and-sew bra foam to create a smooth and sleek surface, and an optional overlapped back closure allows for adjusting the level of filling.ย The Val Breast Form is quick and easy to make, completely washable, and uses materials you most likely already have in your sewing stash.

ย

Styles

Front

For a soft form, use a lightweight woven fabric or knit fabric.

For a smoother and firmer form, use cut-and-sew bra foam covered with a knit fabric.

ย

Back

The optional overlapped back closure allows the wearer to easily adjust the filling level, which is especially useful if making Val for someone else. This closure is only compatible with fiberfill filling and not the poly pellets.

Back opening handsewn closed is compatible with both filling options.

ย

Filling

For soft and lightweight forms, use poly fiber fill.

For heavier forms, similar to the weight of a natural breast, use poly pellets.

Both filling options are washable.

Skill level:

Easy.ย This pattern utilizes straight and zigzag stitches, and a small amount of handsewing.ย Instructions are fully illustrated.

Fabrics & Trims:

Use soft and smooth fabrics, especially if the wearer is using the form without a mastectomy pocket bra. Knits are a better choice for sensitive skin after surgery and radiation therapy.

Woven fabrics: Wovens will hold the shape better than stretch knits.ย Premium quilting cotton, lawn, sateen.

Knits: Cotton or cotton/spandex jersey, bamboo/spandex jersey, modal jersey, rayon/spandex jersey, knit satin spandex.ย Use stretch knits with the cut-and-sew foam front, they are easier to form over the foam than wovens.

Filling: poly fiber fill or poly pellets. Both options can be found in craft stores, and are used for making stuffed animal toys.

This print-at-home PDF pattern has a fully illustrated 7-page instruction manual.ย ย Pattern is printable on US letter and A4 paper.ย The pattern pages include a layers option to print only the size you need.
