Introducing the Solace Mastectomy Pillow

I am happy to introduce to you the Solace Mastectomy Pillow.

Several years ago, my sister-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer.  I wanted to help her out the best I could (difficult from several thousand miles away), so I offered to sew her some mastectomy pillows.  I found a couple patterns off the internet, made them and sent them off to her.  She enjoyed the pillows and said they helped with her recovery.

Since then I have been learning more about post-mastectomy care and decided I wanted to make my own pillow pattern with a few improvements to the one I previously made.  My pattern includes two shoulder strap options (ties or slide adjustable) and a pocket for an ice pack.

I sent a photo to SIL to get her opinion and she got very quiet on the phone, and complained that the pillow I made her didn’t have a pocket and how much that would have helped.  Well, now I know more and can continue to learn and provide you with post-mastectomy care patterns.

I hope you will make one for either yourself or someone you love.  Happy Sewing!
