Skill level:
Intermediate. Attaching the lining with enclosed seams requires working with multiple layers of fabric. Bralette uses straight and zigzag stitches. Instructions are fully illustrated, and include links for videos showing the process of attaching the band with the “burrito method”, and attaching the cups to the cradle.
Fabrics & Trims:
Self Fabrics: low stretch knits (less than 30% stretch) such as: 15 denier tricot, bra tulle, sheer cup lining, nylon tricot, nylon chiffon, dazzle tricot. For fabrics with more stretch (such as liverpool or scuba), line Front with a more stable fabric or use the same fabric cut on the opposite grain. Wovens can also work, just cut the cups on the bias grain and the cradle on the straight grain.
Lining: sheer cup lining, stabilized tricot, bra tulle. Needs to be lightweight and non-stretch.
Band: powernet, techsheen
Trims: fold over elastic (FOE); ½”/12mm strap elastic; ¾”/19mm plush back elastic for band; 3-row hook and eye closure; 2 rings and 2 sliders, ½”/12mm; G-hook, ½”/12mm for Back K; stretch lace trim for Fronts C, D, E, F, Cradle H and Back I. Width of stretch lace trim varies by size, see chart for details.
