Description

Easy to sew and easy to wear, the Chiara Bralette offers comfort and support with multiple closure options.  Three-piece lined cups can be made all or in part with stretch lace.  The band extends around to the front, offering extra support.  Perfect for those with lessened shoulder mobility, the front opening options include hook and eye tape, G-hooks with loops, and bikini clasps.  Back options include a U-band and ballet back with hook and eye closure.  Chiara is designed to be made with stretch knit fabrics, ranging from cotton/spandex jersey, to athletic knits and tricot satin spandex.

Pattern includes mastectomy pocket option.

Skill level:

Intermediate.  This pattern requires working with multiple layers of different fabrics, sewing elastic trims and underwire channeling.  Requires straight, zigzag, and 3-step zigzag stitches.  Instructions are fully illustrated.

Fabrics & Trims:

The amount of support in this style will largely depend on the fabric choices.

Softer, less supportive self fabrics: cotton/spandex jersey, bamboo/spandex jersey, stretch mesh, double brushed poly.  Stretch lace with lots of background mesh and lots of stretch will be less supportive.

Firmer, more supportive self fabrics: athletic knits with 10+% spandex, tricot satin spandex.  Stretch lace with a dense pattern (not much visible background mesh) and less stretch will provide more support.

Linings: self fabrics can be used, or stretch mesh for a lighter weight bralette.

Bands: powernet and techsheen.
